Many brands also tie up with third party networks like CJ, AWIN, ImpactRadius, etc. which assist them during their profit making the journey via affiliate sales. Amazon, being a big player in the market runs his own affiliate program and pays good commissions to its members. You can simply review the Amazon products and put an affiliate link below the video ad earn a commission when someone buys the product after seeing your review.
You display the products on your website or sales page. You market them and try to make the sale. When your prospect is ready to order, they click the button or link and then are sent to your affiliate partner’s site to complete the order.
Thank you Amy for this great information. I’ve been doing just the banners on my side bar, but now I think maybe doing the links would work better. I’m going to experiment. I’m only doing products that I’ve tried and can 100% approve of. I think bloggers who don’t stick to their morals are just slimy.
The merchant is the person or company that creates and owns the product. Now it’s up to the merchant to work their magic and get that person to buy. If the person does decide to purchase, then the affiliate that sent them to the site earns a commission, which is a percentage of the product’s sale price. Easy, right?
How may niche sites do you have vs. authority sites? What would you estimate is your earings for each catagory on average. I would ecpect that the revenue does varry quite a bit through out the year. Just trying to establish a benchmark to measure against.
Be Discerning with your Data: Understand and define good performance of your Facebook advertising prior to exploring this new format. Set up success metrics that will provide a clear view of whether your ad is meeting goals that matter for your business. View through rates will likely increase but you have to ask whether that is because people are actually consuming your content or just dealing it with it so they can finish the video they really wanted to watch. Review your data carefully and use it to test the answer to this question. After all, you don’t want to be the brand keeping consumers from enjoying their internet experience.
Hey guys. Great post with detailed, actionable content. I would like to add my ‘2 cents’ if that’s ok. You are absolutely right with offering a ‘free gift’ in exchange for someone’s name and email address but I have found short reports have worked best for me. If you give away too much information for free they don’t tend to get consumed so the trust isn’t built with your subscriber. Your free gift is the first point of contact with your prospect so it’s unlikely they will read an entire ebook but if you give them a short report which they are able to consume in about 20 mins and they get tremendous value from they are more likely to listen to you in the future and buy your recommendations. A big mistake i see a lot of affiliates make is the content they use for their free giveaway. They think just it’s given away for free that they can just throw together some PLR material and use that. Unfortunately that doesn’t cut it these days and will damage your relationship with your prospect rather than strengthen it. The best way is to carry out some research in your marketplace and see what pains and frustrations your prospects have and create your free giveaway around that.
I would say something like, “Don’t forget to get your FREE Everstryke Match, it’s a waterproof match that every survivalist or outdoorsman should have, so click the link in the description below this video to see if it’s still available for free.”
When there are multiple affiliates involved in one transaction, payment gets much more complicated. Sometimes it’s even possible for affiliates to jump in at the last minute and claim commissions for customers brought in by other affiliates. Successful programs use multi-channel attribution to ensure the affiliates that create the most value get paid the most.

To each his own I suppose, but what you’re suggesting is like trying to compare apples to oranges. Would I rather build up a website that pretty much runs automatically with little effort on my end and make more than my day job or build a “real business” with paying customers and all the hassles that come along with dealing with them?
I do not use my own links unless I have express permission to do so (in writing). This is very important for many networks such as AdSense which will kick you out of the program if you click on the ads on your own site. One of my affiliates indeed did let me use my affiliate link to purchase a second of their products, but only one time. But I was so nervous, I emailed them and asked explicitly if I was reading that right. “So, can I click on my own affiliate link on my own blog and purchase this?” The response was, “Yes, you can use your own link.” And I wrote back again, “So, I will in no way be penalized if I click on my own affiliate link?” (I think I drove them crazy (Hi, can you say anal? 🙂 ) but they assured me it was fine…and it was. All that to say, be very, very careful! I know the fine print is tedious, but being familiar with the TOS (Terms of Service) is really to your benefit.
Avantlink is the industry-leading technology platform for affiliate referrals. Avantlink works hard to remain on the cutting edge with constant upgrades and updates to the their platform, rapid implementation of new tools and technology, and an unyielding emphasis on quality over quantity.
The most common question I hear is related to how companies track the record of who is sending the traffic and making the sales. The simple answer is with a tracking URL (a unique link given to you by the affiliate company or product company).
I can very well understand how it must be with you 🙂 It’s been that way for me over the years, but this time I’m already home and not having the pressure of getting too many things done in one year-end vacation here. Feels much relaxed, and unlike otherwise I’m able to keep my blog alive over the holidays too. It’s a different feeling altogether for me this time.
If you’ve built up a lot of trust with your audience, product reviews are a fantastic way to generate some sales. This works for all three types of products you can promote, and I’ve personally seen success with each.
Amazon Affiliate links, once clicked on by a potential buyer, are active for 24 hours. This means that they expire for that particular user after 24 hours. Fresh links means new chances to earn money.

For merchants, affiliate network services provided often include reporting, tracking, payment and refund processing, affiliate management, and most importantly – access to a large base of publishers (affiliate marketers).
I have another post, How to Set Up a Blog, that brings people step by step through the process using Bluehost. That’s another product I know and use. Readers can go through that post with no website at all and by the end have a bare bones WordPress site up and running.
This is so good it could be published as a book. Easily the best post on affiliate marketing I have ever seen. I will need to take some time off one weekend and go through this and implement properly.
Affiliate marketing gives you the opportunity to earn a commission by selling products or services offered by other companies. It’s a great way to supplement your income from the convenience of your own home. Fortunately, it’s also easy to become an affiliate for companies that are household names.
It’s no secret that social media (and the internet in general) is primarily accessed on mobile devices. And if the Facebook stats below are any indicator, it’s time for brands to start thinking of content and marketing from a mobile-first perspective:
I had no idea about the value in social media marketing. Boot Camp Digital opened my eyes to all the free tools available to help promote an agency. As a non-profit organization, this is huge. Thank you!
Action Item: If you know your niche and want to promote a physical product do a quick google search for “product name affiliate program” or “your niche affiliate program” to get an idea of what other options are out there.
