hi, I’m new to this. I have a question. So when you share your Amazon affiliate link and someone clicks on the link and they decide they don’t want to purchase that specific Item, but do buy a different item through your affiliate link, do you get commission? or is that only if you have a website and they purchased though your website?
I would say something like, “Don’t forget to get your FREE Everstryke Match, it’s a waterproof match that every survivalist or outdoorsman should have, so click the link in the description below this video to see if it’s still available for free.”
Some are more profitable than others, but usually most of your affiliate income will come from one or two “ringers” — core products that just about everyone in your audience needs and which also pay a good commission.
Finally, you can also sign up to individual affiliate programs which often pays more than the networks, but the downside is that it might take longer to get paid. You’d have to be a lot more organized to track each merchant, and the corresponding logins and passwords.
I have personally been banned from forums like www.warriorforum.com because I specifically challenged all those so called gurus who were selling their work for $97, or $47 or $27 (and made $100,000s from it), to show me proof.
To sum it all up, Facebook is one of the strongest social media marketing tools that is able to help you to reach out to people who may be interested in your product/service. With the right targeting, your businesses will experience a substantial increase in revenue.
When one makes me tens of thousands and I only lose a couple grand on the other two, that’s pretty great. Problem is, when I start with a product then look for customers, I’ve noticed the shelf life is always limited.
Here’s my take: I have gained a huge amount of knowledge from bloggers who have offered free expertise and information on their blogs over the years. I am so grateful for the time they took to put it all online so I could personally benefit from it. Knowing how much time and energy it takes to compile all the information and present it in a way that is simple for me to use and easily accessible, it seems quite reasonable to me that they should be compensated in some way. They are truly providing me a service that is making my life better and in other offline areas of life, I’m more than willing to pay for great services as well. In the end, I’d much prefer the information to be freely available and their compensation come from affiliate programs (which doesn’t cost me anything major), than for the information to be something I have to pay directly for (and thus compensate them that way).
In April 2008 the State of New York inserted an item in the state budget asserting sales jurisdiction over Amazon.com sales to residents of New York, based on the existence of affiliate links from New York–based websites to Amazon. The state asserts that even one such affiliate constitutes Amazon having a business presence in the state, and is sufficient to allow New York to tax all Amazon sales to state residents. Amazon challenged the amendment and lost at the trial level in January 2009. The case is currently making its way through the New York appeals courts.

Video is the perfect medium for increasing brand awareness and pulling new people into the funnel. But don’t let the customer journey stop there – retarget video viewers with ads that feature sequential messaging to encourage them to take the next step to becoming a customer.

Getting Started Doing Affiliate Marketing is very simple as you do not have to own a website or blog to start. You need to sign up with an affiliate program such as commission junction, (www.cj.com) which has wide range of affiliate products, or do a Google search for “Affiliate Marketing” Do your research on what or who your target market is going to be. Do not try and promote a wide range of products that are not connected with each other.

For example, I might find a top selling course on click bank that I actually want to buy and when I buy it I can study all of the sales pages and up sells. I’ve found that I have learned much more from doing this than any actual courses. 🙂
A personal example is a post I just did about two competing golf technologies Game Golf and Arccos Golf. They both do variations of the same thing, but no one had played as many rounds with both systems as I had. So I created a definitive post which has sent a lot of traffic, and a few sales, my way over the last couple weeks.
I love affiliate marketing because it’s a very simple, transparent model for earning an income online. It’s not about joining some pyramid scheme where you have to recruit people to sell random products (I really hate those programs.)
You don’t need to be convinced. You know how powerful – and popular – Facebook is right now! What you need are ways to attract fans, get answers to your questions, and the ability to harness this powerful site and help your organization get the most out of its online presence.
And while that may sound like a tall order, just remember that all you need to do to be unique is act like yourself as you write reviews or provide readers with blog posts and articles full of interesting information. The important part is to keep up the volume, since the longer you wait between articles, the further your website will fall in the search engine rankings.
I sometimes use affiliate links on SteveScottSite.com. This means if you decide to make a purchase, I will get a sales commission. But that doesn’t mean my opinion is for sale. EVERY affiliate link on this site are to products that I’ve used and found useful. Please do your own research before making any purchase online.
Consider using a lead page and funnel system to market your affiliate business. Lure prospects to your email list with a great free offer, and from there you can send them to your affiliate product page. In your email system, you can offer more great free content and more affiliate offers.
…the research and setup are the most important and time consuming pieces of that “engine”. I’m glad you address it ‘cos I strongly recommend spending at least half of your time (or more) on making sure you are ethically delivering a solid and useful product/service to your audience.
It makes sense to launch a YouTube channel in conjunction with a website. This gives you more options for monetization rather than simply depending on on-page conversions from links in the description.
My (now) good friends Derek and Clay had an apartment across town that they’d just moved into and despite only knowing them for a brief period of time they let me come crash for a few days while I figured out my next steps.
Don’t just hope and pray that visitors will buy; setup everything correctly and make it happen! If you think that visitors will click on your affiliate links and buy just because you placed dozens of affiliate links on your website then you are wrong! You need to have a structured plan in place. Affiliate marketing is a business so you will have a much better chance of succeeding if you treat it like one.
Note: The below blue boxes may contain affiliate links. This means that at no extra cost to you, I may receive a commission if someone purchases or signs up for the companies listed within them. However, I only recommend things that I like and use myself.
Hi Chris, I live abroad in Asia and am wondering if I can still implement your course and have a chance at success. How would you find content to review products without owning the products yourself.. Is that possible?
